I’m Kirsty Parsons, a local wife and mum of two who lives in Church Crookham, and I reckon I have the best job in the world!

I didn’t always teach Jo Jingles classes. I moved up to this area in 1999 and for 13 years had a very successful career in Human Resources management. I had my first daughter in 2008 and when I went back to work I signed her up for Jo Jingles classes when she started at nursery. Then, when I was 7 months pregnant with my second daughter, I found myself unexpectedly facing redundancy – eeek! Bad timing right? Wrong! It was the best thing that ever happened to me!
Music has been a part of my life since before I was born. I come from a long line of musicians, singers and conductors and it’s no exaggeration to say that I was probably singing before I could talk! I sang my first public solo when I was 7 in front of 2,500 people (thank goodness it was in the days before X-Factor!) and as a child and teenager learned the piano and sang in a number of choirs and vocal groups. As a young adult, I took vocal tuition at Birmingham Conservatoire and more recently with a retired professor from the Royal Academy of Music. I was quick to join Farnham Amateur Operatic Society and Cody Amateur Operatic Societies when I moved to this area and have wonderful memories of all of the shows I was involved with with them before my children came along.
So when I suddenly found myself redundant with a newborn baby, an elder daughter of three and a half and the rest of my career stretching out in front of me, I was automatically drawn to making music with Jo Jingles. Luckily for me I was able to take over a thriving Jo Jingles franchise in Farnham, Farnborough and Church Crookham.

Why do I think I have the best job in the world?
Singing and making great music together is infectiously happy! (Did you know it actually raises your endorphin levels?) Children instinctively find making music stimulating and uplifting, so getting involved in music with your young child is an easy and ideal way to bring more happiness into both yours and your child’s life. Jo Jingles provides a structured mixture of singing traditional songs, learning new ones, playing simple percussion-based instruments and moving around through dancing and action songs using great props. No matter how old your child is, you want them to be engaged in a session that you can enjoy together and this is what we offer. If that wasn’t enough as well as all the fun we offer, we are implicitly teaching very young children all the basic principles of music – rhythm and beat, tempo, pitch, dynamics and form.

I love making music, I love having fun and above all I love seeing all the children and their Mums, Dads, Grandparents, childminders and nannies uplifted and having a great time!
